Blogging- Express Style

Around these parts, this week is the very definition of "slammed".

Three-month-old+organising holiday+moving house+trying to fix up an old truck=Too knackered for words.

So here is the news in short form.

  • Almost two weeks after I thought I had it finished, the truck finally started for the first time today. As it would need to be done before tomorrow to avoid a costly and inconvenient towing fee, I am very relieved.
  • After everything went back together, the bloody thing wouldn't kick over. I did a bit of diagnostic work, and found that both fuel and spark were a problem.
  • The fuel issue turned out to be a blocked fuel filter. Not surprising after sitting there for nearly two years in a dusty back yard. Changed the filter, and the carby was getting fuel again.
  • The spark problem was f-ing with me, but I narrowed it down to a faulty coil. I installed a new one, and the f-ing thing STILL wouldn't fire. After a little more investigation I found a eye terminal was corroded to hell.
  • Crimped on a new terminal. Was literally at the point where if it didn't start now, I'd have to bite the bullet and organise a tow truck. Gave a silent prayer to, well, ME, and popped it.
  • IT F-ING STARTED!!! WHOOOOOOO!!!
  • Seriously, I was SO proud.
  • I also felt extremely manly. If Lauren wasn't awake, I would have hit the missus up for a root. Just because.
  • Now I just have to refit the drivers seat (and seatbelt) and it'll be ready to drive to the new house.
  • We are almost packed. I pick the truck up tomorrow afternoon, and we should be completely moved by Saturday afternoon. Sunday will be dedicated to taking a few bits and pieces to the rubbish tip. We have booked a cleaner to go through the old house on Monday, and then we can return the keys and forget about the dump.
  • The new house has an AWESOME little spot for a veggie garden.
  • This will be the closest thing to a post you'll see from me until next week.
There ya go. Now you know why you haven't seen much of me arounf your blogs for the last week or so.

And finally, here are a couple of very cute photos of my baby girl.

Later.

Wonderful pictures!! She has a cute little grin. :) has she started to laugh yet? That's my favorite sound in the world is Lily's laugh.

Yay for the truck getting done!! It doesn't matter who you are, you always have to run into a few problems when working on mechanical things. Good luck in the move!!

Oh my fucking god, your my fucking hero, ay! Do you know how many modern men would be able to diagnose their own vehicle AND actually rectify it? I once knew a man who was almost in tears because he had to replace the serpentine belt on his VT, but leave it to me to get the job done, in all of about five minutes too. Everyone's just a useless fag these days. Good on you for not being one of them!

Meanwhile, could Lauren possibly the cutest thing ever! Fuck man, your heart must swell like a motherfucker with her around! She has the most gorgeous little smile!

I skipped past the mechanic-speak. Josh is one, so I have had my fill of engine talk. Blecht!

But, Oh.my.God, How cute is Lauren here!? She's such a little ham! :-D

Suvvygirl-

Mary's heard her laugh once, but I haven't heard it yet. Her smile is enough to melt me, though, so I have no doubt that her laugh will do the same.

Kezza-

I know, I was SO proud that I managed to work out and fix the problem.

I know about those serpentine drive belts, though- about two years ago I replaced one on a VR for a friend. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of having a few cones first.

BAD idea...

Sue-

Heh. Yeah, Mary's eyes glaze over whenever I start talking about that stuff, too.

Lauren greets us with that big smile every morning. It is very, very cute.

Luli-

Yeah, the last three months have absolutely flown.

You're dead right about the cleaners. Cleaning up after a tenancy is a tedious f-ing task at the best of times. I'm glad we don't have to do it.
