Heh. I'm not REALLY that much of an arsehole, I promise. I'm actually incredibly touched about this thing.
Well, after doing this blog thang for a few months, I have just been given my VERY FIRST AWARD!!!
A-HEM. First of all, I'd like start by thanking my wife, who supported me through the barren years months and allowed me to nurture my unquestionable greatness...
What? You mean I don't get to give a speech? What a f-ing GYP.
In case you're wondering (and even if you're not, you'll damn well sit there and read it- I'm going to milk this for everything I f-ing well CAN), the Superior Scribbler Award was created by Melissa over at The Scholastic Scribe. She bestowed the award upon her five favourite bloggers, who then awarded THEIR five faves, and so on.
(And yes, I DO realise that should it continue to be awarded, it is inevitable that EVERYONE is going to end up with one of these things. But for now, the club is very exclusive, and I'm proud to be an early recipient.)
(Oh, and if this was your first thought, then f-you for trying to rain on my parade. Let a fella have his moment in the SUN, you heartless f-ers!)
Anyway, it was the lovely Sue from Beggar's Shot Glass who lavished the award upon me. In doing so, she also said some EXTRAORDINARILY kind things about yours truly.
I swear, after reading her nomination, I had a f-ing e-woody that you could hammer NAILS with.
Before I go on, I would like to make sure that ALL of you (yes, even YOU) add Beggar's Shot Glass to your regular travels. She is a fun read, a great writer and she has a fascination with breasts that rivals, well, MINE. What more could you ask for?
At the moment, she is periodically updating a series of posts on her experiences with a life coach. Life coaching certainly aint MY cup of tea (MY skeletons are perfectly HAPPY in their f-ing closet, thankyouveryMUCH), but her openness and writing ability provide a great insight into the process. Make sure you check it out.
Anyway, without further adieu (take THAT, you froggy rifle-droppers!), allow me to present the Bullhorn's first EVER award nominations...
- Each Superior Scribbler must in turn pass The Award on to 5 most-deserving Bloggy Friends.
- Each Superior Scribbler must link to the author & the name of the blog from whom he/she has received The Award.
- Each Superior Scribbler must display The Award on his/her blog, and link to this post, which explains The Award.
- Each Blogger who wins The Superior Scribbler Award must visit this post and add his/her name to the Mr. Linky List. That way, we'll be able to keep up-to-date on everyone who receives This Prestigious Honor!
- Each Superior Scribbler must post these rules on his/her blog.
Luli- Nothing You Confess Could Make Me Love You Less
Ahh, Luli. Unquestionably the only hippie I'd actually go out of my way to listen to. She is as gifted a writer as anyone I've seen around the blogging world, she is able to discuss an incredible range of subjects with passion and reason in equal measure, and she is able to hold a lucid chat conversation while completely hung over.
I'm willing to bet that this won't be the last writing award that she ever gets her little mitts on.
Kezza- Interpret this!
Of all the blogs I've read, Kezza is the guy who I've found is (in my opinion, at least) most like me. He knows how to take a joke, he's quick-witted enough to fire back with a line of his own, he likes cars and goes on driving holidays that are as much about the journey as they are the destination. He also has a low tolerance for fools and is perfectly content to let fly with an expletive or two. Cool beans.
Of course, Kezza also likes to get sweaty with other men, and has a habit of posting naked pictures of himself- neither of which are particularly high on MY "Fun Ways To Spend A Saturday Night" list.
So maybe we're not EXACTLY alike. But close enough for him to be one of my favourite blogs to read.
Ms Smack- Smack Dab In The Middle
Far wiser than I'll ever be, and far more open and honest than I'd ever dare. Her gift is to make the reader feel like he is privy to her deepest, most personal thoughts, whether or not that actually happens to be the case.
More importantly- for me at least- is that she achieves this vulnerability without for a second delving into the cliched moodiness and insecurity. She truly is an entertaining writer, and, if I'm any judge, a pretty cool human being.
Arna- Estrella- Tales From The Dark Side
The girl known better around the blogosphere as the textual representation of a plump pair of hooters, Arna- or "( . )( . )" if you prefer- is a woman who obviously loves her life, one packed weekend at a time. Her weekend wraps never fail to take me back to the time where I was less of a boring old fart.
Ahhhh. Good times.
Of course, I'm a responsible (*cough*) parent these days, so for me, the era of getting pissed and finding the nearest decent party are well and truly behind me. So now, I live out that part of my psyche vicariously through her. And it invariably brings a smile to my face.
Now, before I announce the last award, I want to mention just how difficult it was to narrow it down to just five. I DID consider waggling my arse at the rules and nominating eight or ten, but then I remembered that it wasn't my award, and thus would probably be less that appreciated. So if you're not on the list, please keep your wishes of hate confined to me alone, and leave my wife, daughter and "the horse I rode in on" out of it.
DCup- PoliTits
Now, this is a blog that I've only recently found- and I'm certainly glad that I did. Any politics buff has a wealth of material in the lead up to November every four years, but DCup is one of the few political blogs that I bother to read, for one very simple reason.
She doesn't try to come across as the font of all wisdom and knowledge. When it comes to political punditry, that is an incredibly rare and refreshing property.
Of course, a deferential attitude is nothing if it's accompanied by common sense and an entertaining style. DCup has both of these in spades, which makes her blog(s) fun to explore.
So there ya go. Five awesome blogs added to the list, and a few others who now hate me with a vengeance. Mission accomplished.
Later.

Oh Andy! You're the best! Thanks heaps for the lovely words, I'm proud to be your only hippie. Am I allowed to pick you back? You're in my top 5 hands down..
DCup-
Just what we all needed, eh? MORE blogs to keep us from being productive...
Kezza-
Yep, you'll need to get to it. Now YOU get to alienate a whole lot of people by NOT picking them. Good luck!
Sue-
HAW! Just HOW did I know that you'd be drawn to the blog about the tits, eh? You're nothing if not consistent.
( . )( . )-
I wouldn't have expected anything else. Besides, I need my weekly fix, so you'd BETTER.
Luli-
Well, of COURSE I'm the best. Now we just have to go around and convince everyone ELSE.
And no, you CAN'T pick me back. You'll just have to come up with five OTHER names. Nyeh Nyeh.
This is too funny and too cute.
Aw, hell, that's so lovely of you to write nice things about those people and ME!
You're a honey!
Thanks so much!
